The Sixes River is the complement to Elk River which runs just south of it. The Sixes is about 30 miles in length and empties into the Pacific just north of Cape Blanco with the Elk River empties just south of the cape. It is known for its late run of big Chinook salmon which peaks from October to December. There is also a good native winter steelhead run from December to March. Most fishing takes place from a drift boat but there is reasonable bank access. The main section fished is from Edson Creek to Highway 101.
